Creating an Abstract Portrait in acrylics on canvas
You can see this and my other paintings on my website: www.MartinaShapiro.com
Watch me create my abstract girl portrait painting Colors Of Emotion starting with a blank canvas. I paint from imagination and don't use any models. I start painting directly on an empty canvas, inventing the shapes, colors and lines as I paint - I never know how the painting will end up looking in the end - the creative process is an adventure and a discovery. I created this painting using a Chinese ink brush with liquid black acrylic paint and then used a regular brush with acrylic paints for the colors.

Watch me create a new painting videos
I am working on a new painting and have been posting short videos of the process on my Facebook Fan Page: @MartinaShapiroArt
Currently I posted Part 1, Part 2 and Part 3 of the process.
I don't know yet how the painting will end up looking when it's finished because I paint from imagination and don't look at anything when I paint. I let the painting 'evolve' by itself.

My painting on Amano Chocolate Label
I created the painting for the Amano Jembrana chocolate label - I love Amano Chocolates, they are really high quality and taste amazing. I was actually eating their chocolate while inventing this painting in order to get inspired - it worked :)

Red Nude on Black Original Painting by artist Martina Shapiro
In this video you can watch me create my painting Red Nude on Black, starting with a blank canvas. I paint from my imagination and don't use any models. I start painting directly on an empty canvas, inventing the shapes and lines as I paint. It is a very dramatic and sensual abstract nude painting with a lot of texture and free, expressionist brushstrokes. This nude has a strong 'presence' and almost appears to be moving. I painted her in rich and sumptuous Fauve colors with strong color contrasts of reds, yellows and oranges and with fluid and sensual lines and contrasts of both transparent and shiny black acrylic paint. Abstract Girl Painting on paper (Part 2)
Here I continue working on the painting on paper that I started in my video Part 1, adding acrylic colors and finishing the painting. I filmed it by holding the camera in one hand while painting with my other hand - not easy to do :)

Abstract Girl - Ink Drawing in real time
Shows how I create an abstract girl drawing in ink on paper from my imagination. In a following video clip I finish this painting with acrylic colors.

Watch me paint
This is a short clip from a TV documentary (January 2007) that profiled me as an artist. I filmed this with my digital camera as it was playing on my TV so the quality is not very good.
It shows how I created my painting Abstract Nude With Pink Lips". I used Chinese ink brush for the ink lines and acrylic paint for the color. I put the paper on the floor and bend over it when I paint - it gives me more freedom of movement and makes it easier to 'let go'. I create instinctively and try to use my subconscious as much I as can. Sometimes magic happens and it works on the first try as you see in this video clip. I might post more videos if I can get someone to film me when I paint :)

Nude Memory - original oil painting - SOLD
Artist Martina Shapiro Paintings
This is a very big (4 by 3 feet) painting and just the size by itself has a huge impact on you when you stand in front of it.
The abstraction gives you the means to create the nude for yourself - when you look at the painting, your eyes and your mind create your own personal nude every time you look at it. In this way you are sharing the joy of creation.
It is a vibrant unique painting with many different hues and tones of pure colors that cannot all be accurately captured on a photograph. The colors you see also depend on your computer's monitor settings. The painting's colors depend on the color and intensity of the light that illuminates the painting.
